Greetings!

By the time you read this, the show will be behind us. I think that we have been able to put together a nice display. Thank you to all who were able to enter items and help with the room sitting. Those who came through our room seemed interested and many picked up our information.

Our next meeting will be on October 11th at 7 pm. We will be back at the Bettendorf Library. There will not be a formal program, so bring your current projects to work on.

Also, since our treasurer was unable to attend the last meeting, we postponed collecting dues till this meeting.

Those attending the September meeting voted to retain the current board members for the next two years. Judy Wagner volunteered to help with programs and distributing the hats. Many thanks to Jan for opening her home for our September meeting!

The Sit and Knit will be on October 18th at Sharon's home beginning at 1 pm.

Note from the President
Since we will be electing officers for the next 2 years, there will be no formal program.

We will also be discussing handouts and other promotional ideas. June has agreed to place articles in different publications if we can give her ideas about who to contact and what to write up.

I will need items to put into a display at the Children's museum and we need to be gathering things to display at the Fiber Arts Festival September 28 & 29. As a promotion for the show, we have been asked to have a couple of people come to sit and knit at the Bettendorf Children's Museum on September 15th from 1-3 pm.

I hope that I haven't forgotten anything. See you all soon!

July Newsletter

Next Quad-City Knitter’s Guild Meeting
Date: July 12, 2007
Time: 7 PM
Place: BETTENDORF LIBRARY

Note from the President
The Mississippi Valley Fair is coming soon! For those who may be new, members promote knitting and the Guild by bringing lawn chairs and knitting at the Heritage House located on the north side of the Starlight Ballroom at the fair. We usually go on the Friday and Saturday, but are welcome to come any day we want. For those interested in tickets to participate in the demonstration, they'll be available at the July meeting or you can send us an email at qcknit AT gmail DOT com

I also have news about the upcoming Fiber Arts Festival. We have been asked to provide items for one or more showcases at the Children's Museum. If you have anything that you can loan that you don't want to put in the show, please bring it to the July meeting. It can be Afghans, sweaters, hats, purses, socks, samplers, etc. We will be arranging them sometime in August. We have also been asked to participate in a promotion for the show on September 15th. We will be demonstrating knitting at the Children's Museum on that day from 1 to 3 pm. Check you calendars to see if you can help.

I can't believe it, but Kim has already sent out letters to remind us that the Festival of Trees would appreciate donations of Christmas Stockings again this year. I guess that means that I have to decide on a design and get started. Although Kim told us last year that she wouldn't be doing it this year, she is. She told them that if they gave the ornaments to someone else, she would continue doing the stockings.

Cindy Weinberger
President

Note from the President
Greetings,
I can't believe that Memorial Day is past and so are most graduation parties. It is also WARM weather. A good time to work on smaller projects. With that in mind, the program for June will be two new ideas on what you can do with socks. We will also be needing volunteers for a nominating committee as this is an election year.
I hope to see you all there!

Cindy Weinberger
President

Next Quad-City Knitter’s Guild Meeting
Date: May 10, 2007
Time: 7 PM
Place: BETTENDORF LIBRARY

Note from the President
I don’t know about you, but I think that I will find many uses for the cast-on that Judy taught us. I think that my first project will be a small one – I need a pouch for a keychain mini-tool set. Thank you so much, Judy!

Happy Knitting!

Cindy Weinberger
President

May Program:
The program this month will be a couple of new stitches that would be great on socks, a sweater, or even an afghan. You will want to knit up a couple of inches in the yarn of your choice with the size needles you like before the meeting. Make it a multiple of 8 stitches with maybe a couple of extra for an edge border.

On-going Guild Projects
-Caps for Kids
-Afghan squares for community blankets.

Events In The Area
Guild members - Sit and Knit will be at June’s new house in Davenport. Please see your newsletters for further details.

Next Quad-City Knitter’s Guild Meeting
Date: April 12, 2007
Time: 7 PM
Place: BETTENDORF LIBRARY

Note from the President - I think that the warm weather is getting me in the mood for spring. The grass is greening up and I have a hyacinth in bloom. I want to thank Judy Wagner for her program on two socks at once and sock heels. I was quite pleased with how they came together.

This month’s program will be knitting socks from the toe up. The cast-on Judy Masat will show us looked very smooth and comfortable. You should bring two circular needles (in different colors, if possible) and yarn to match.

The Sit “n Knit will be at my house on April 19 – drop us an email if you need further details.

I look forward to seeing you all!

Cindy Weinberger
President

April Program: Judy Masat will teach the Turkish cast on, which she used in making a pair of socks from the toe up. The cast on makes a very nice toe. She used the Vogue Knitting magazine from the Fall of 2005 to learn this technique.

For the program, members are to bring two circular needles of approximately the same size and worsted weight yarn.

On-going Guild Projects
-Caps for Kids
-Afghan squares for community blankets.

Next Guild Meeting: March 8, 2007
Meeting begins at 7 pm, located in the Bettendorf Public Library.

Note from the President - Cindy Weinberger
I hope that by the time this reaches all of you, everyone will have power again. There are only so many things that you can knit in the dark. However, big projects like afghans can keep you warm while you wait for heat.

Our March program will be a continuation of Judy's presentation on knitting two socks at once on two circular needles. I look forward to learning if I put my two beginnings on the needles properly.

Several of us were able to meet at Marge's for the February Sit 'Knit. We all had a good time! Lots of good conversation, knitting and cookies as a bonus.

Until our next meeting, stay warm and happy knitting.

Next Guild Meeting
February 8, 2006

Note from the President - Cindy Weinberger

As much as we may not like the cold weather, it sure is a great excuse to cuddle up with a knitting project. It is also a nice time when we want to keep our feet nice and warm. To help us do that, Judy Wagner has agreed to teach some techniques for kitting socks in February and March. See your newsletters for details.

I would like to welcom our newest member, Sue. We look forward to see her finished felted purse. See you all at the next meeting!
